Count to 100 with a Number Chart

I can count aloud from 1 to 100 and use rows of ten to find missing numbers.

Let’s get started

Let’s count to 100, ten numbers at a time. You already know the first ten—now watch the pattern repeat.

Learn together

  1. Count 1 to 10 aloud with your fingers or counters.
  2. Count forward: 11–20, 21–30, and onward to 100. Touch each number on the chart below.
  3. Find the pattern: after 29 comes 30; after 39 comes 40; after 99 comes 100.
  4. Practice starting at any number (for example, 48) and counting forward five numbers.

Example to explore

1, 2, 3, ... 9, 10 | 11, 12, ... 19, 20 | … | 91, 92, …, 99, 100

Try it yourself

  1. What comes after 39 when counting to 100?
  2. Fill in the missing number: 67, 68, __, 70.
  3. What number comes just before 100?
  4. Count from 1 to 100 aloud with your parent. Write your favorite ten-number row (for example 41 to 50).

Hands-on project

Make a colorful 100 chart: highlight every tenth number, then count by tens and explain the pattern to your parent.

Reflect and grow

Which numbers were tricky and how did the number chart help?
