Our Five Senses

I can name the five senses and safely use them to observe.

Let’s get started

Scientists notice the world. Our senses help us gather information.

Learn together

  1. Eyes help us see shapes and colors; ears help us hear sounds.
  2. Our skin helps us feel textures; our nose helps us smell.
  3. Our tongue helps us taste safe food. Never taste unknown materials.

Example to explore

👀 sight 👂 hearing ✋ touch 👃 smell 👅 taste

Try it yourself

  1. Which body part helps you hear?
  2. Which sense helps notice a fluffy blanket?
  3. Describe one safe thing you can see right now.

Hands-on project

With a grown-up, make a senses scavenger list: something colorful, something quiet, something soft, and something with a pleasant smell.

Reflect and grow

Which sense helped you discover something new?
